Hillsong, Scientology, and the Church of Satan
Hillsong has recently announced a new city where they want to plant a new church
Los Angeles is a city of millions of people – people chasing broken dreams, people desperate for hope in a higher cause, people longing for meaningful relationships with one another. Hillsong Church is about all those things.
Hillsong is about ‘welcoming home’ the lost, the broken, the hurting, and the lonely. It’s about connecting families; building purpose and value into everyONE and it is about seeing the Good News of Jesus Christ proclaimed everywhere – including the bright lights of big cities like LA.
(The good news according to Hillsong is ‘welcoming home’ anybody, and everybody, the same exact slogan being used by the Catholic Church, happily endorsed by Rick Warren.)
Yet the gospel is, God in Christ reconciling the world to himself. Our sin is an offense to a holy God. We, the human race who are dead in trepasses and sin, are separated from the life of God.
But for Hillsong its just putting out a compassionate ‘welcome’ mat.
The Church of Scientology located along the famous Sunset Boulevard, in Los Angeles, holds to a body of beliefs and related practices created by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986).
Beginning in 1952 as a successor to his earlier self-help system, Dianetics, Scientology teaches that people are immortal beings who have just forgotten their true nature.
Its method of spiritual rehabilitation is a type of counselling, in which practitioners aim to re-experience painful events in their past in order to free themselves of their limiting effects. Study materials and sessions are made available to members on a fee-for-service basis, which the church describes as a “fixed donation.”
Scientology is legally recognized as a tax-exempt religion in a number of countries.
“Yes, its true – Hillsong Church is expanding into Southern California!! In a city as influential as LA – a city obsessed with putting names in bright lights – our heart and our prayer is that our church (also obsessed with bright lights) will add to the growing skyline a name Higher, Brighter and Greater than any other…JESUS.”
“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!” Matthew 5:14-16 (excerpt from MSG)
Pity the bible doesn’t actually say that;
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
So why does Hillsong want to shine?
The Hillsong founder announced last month, that his son, Benjamin (Ben) Houston, and daughter-in-law would be “pursuing their dream of starting Hillsong In the Los Angeles/Orange County area” some time next year.
Nearly a year ago, rumours began about the possibility of a Hillsong Church in Los Angeles. (Some call it marketing via the curiousity approach) Funnily, at that time we had NO plans for LA. (Really?…no plans, yet they had already embarked on an expansion, eg. New York.)
Brian Houston continues, “But the more I protested, the stronger the rumours became. Then, taking us by surprise, my son Ben and his wife Lucille, came to Bobbie and I at Easter time and shared with us their sense of calling to Southern California…
It’s hard to explain to you the emotions you feel when your son, along with his beautiful wife and my 3 beautiful granddaughters, express to you a desire (accompanied by a strong conviction) to move to another country.
Bobbie and I are extremely joyful, extremely confident in God’s hand on them and these plans, and yet obviously emotional at the changes that this will bring to our (already) global family.
Ben Houston, (son of Brian Houston) shares some of the story;
“In terms of Hillsong LA, our plans for ‘expansion’ are not indiscriminate. They are intentional, prayed about and thought through. They are accompanied by many conversations and a heartfelt desire to see the decision and the outworking’s of it, done with great care and integrity. Some of our dearest friends pastor churches in the Los Angeles area. In fact, some of the worlds greatest churches and leaders – people I love, admire, respect and learn from – are based in California. That is why I am going to say this with all passion and conviction: If you are already an active part of a local church – stay planted in your church. Our intention is not to build on anyone else’s foundation and we will do our best to work alongside the greater Church in the city – moving forward with the unique calling that each of us bring to the Body of Christ.
So, at the moment, we really have no details for you. These plans are in their infancy, and we are concentrated wholly on what lies immediately ahead of us – the very first Hillsong Conferences in the great nation of America.
What we do know is that we are boldly and unreservedly moving forward – intent on building a healthy, thriving local church that by God’s grace, will be a blessing to this city and beyond! And as we do gather more details and make decisions over the coming months, if you live in the Los Angeles area, are looking for a local church, have recently moved to LA or have friends that you would love to introduce to church, then we’d love to hear from you HERE.
Brian finishes by saying;
What incredible days we are living in…surely, the best is yet to come!
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Hillsong’s mission on their main website is ‘Championing the cause of the Local Church’, while their conference postioning statement is;
“The Church is God’s solution for the earth.”
Then they continue outlying (I mean outlining) Hillsong’s gospel;
“Jesus commissioned us to be builders of the Church, and the Church to be builders of people.”
Yes…that’s right, according to their mission statement, an institution is God’s answer for the world!
You know the verse. “Go into all the world, and build churches.” [See Matt 28:18 – 20]
No… Jesus’ mission statement was ‘Go into all the world and preach the Gospel’, and “I will build my Church’!
The Lord Jesus isn’t abdegating His throne anytime soon. Nevertheless the Houston’s are set on building global success regardless, ‘Destined to Reign’ in an earthly realm of their own making! They have deceived themselves into believing they have a divine mandate to accumulate power, wealth and influence!!
The TRUE cause of this $55 million dollar juggernaut is to amass wealth and property, which is nothing more than Satanic philosophy dressed up in ‘Christian’ phraseology.
Read the lyrics by Hard rock band Van Halen who produced songs like “Runnin with the Devil”.
Compare Hillsong’s definition of success, with Van Halen’s song “Best of Both Worlds”.
“You don’t have to die and go to Heaven…Or hang around to be born again
Just tune in to what this place has got to offer… We may never be here again.
I want the best of both worlds…I know what it’s worth
Give me the best of both worlds…I want Heaven right here on earth.”
Anton LaVey, the high priest of the Satanic church based in San Francisco, explains the essence of satanism:
“….knowing this, realizing what human potential is,… here is one of the essential points of satanism; (to) attain his own godhead in accordance with his own potential. Therefore, each man, each woman, is a god or goddess….”
The shocking truth is Hillsong and the other counterfeits like Warren, Prince, and Osteen are promoting health, wealth, prosperity and human potential, the antithesis to true biblical Christianity! [see Phil 2:5 – 10, 2 Cor 5:14,15, Matt 6:24] We cannot serve God and money! Yet most people believe these churches are just another Christian ‘flavour’.
Their goal is to make God famous, at the same time making themselves famous!
This popular ‘faith’ is Robert Schuller’s self esteem, and Freemason Norman Vincent Peale’s possibility thinking repackaged; this insidious seduction slithered into the church over a jubilee ago.
Jesus says that if salt loses its flavour, (v. 13b) “… It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
Technically speaking, salt cannot lose its saltiness. But in the part of the world where Jesus lived, salt was collected from around the Dead Sea where the crystals were often contaminated with other minerals. These crystalized formations were full of impurities, and since the actual salt was more soluble than the impurities, the rain could wash out the salt, which made what was left of little worth since it lost its saltiness.
When this happened, the salt was thrown out, since it was no longer of any value either as a preservative or for flavouring.
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”. – 2 Timothy 3:5
“….I know thy works, that you have a name that you live and are dead.” – Rev 3:1
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.” – Philippians 3:18-19
When the salt was leeched out it still looked like salt.
Hillsong may have a name, but they have NO salt, no light…
This is the hallmark of Hillsong’s global franchise!
