This article has been focussing mainly on the ‘possible’ damage to the planet of a comet or asteroid that could appear in our skies over the coming weeks. We are told there will be signs in the heavens, and that there will be judgments in the earth., so this could fit.
It is clear that it is not a reference to ‘Wormwood’ of revelation, but rather a freak celestial ball that seems to be heading in our direction. Here’s a fact: Nasa confirmed that no celestial object’s orbit, that is large enough to cause real damage, will pass earths orbit in the next few hundred years. Actually you can check this fact with various programs Starry night etc wich have the calculated orbits of the comets in our solar system. Check your facts if you claim that these articles are based on them.

I am asking all Christians to fast and pray starting September 22 and ending when we have victory. My birth date is 9/23/51. Someone I’ve never met, who happens to be from Texas like me, friended me on social media and told me I was “the most important person on the planet.” I was so shocked by that statement I couldn’t even ask why she made it. I agree that no one can predict the day nor hour; however, Isaac Newton, was a devout Christian and his words were misinterpreted. He made no such prediction. As for the reasons why the world may end why is it many Christians only find sexual sins at fault? What about the destruction on the earth that “is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof?” How about the cruelty toward other humans ? How about the idolatry of celebrities and their lifestyles? And how about fornication and adultery, the sexual sins Jesus denounced repeatedly, along with witchcraft like astrology, and drug use? I was brought up in the bible and church my whole life I’m 22 years bday 1/23/93. If 9/23/15 was to b the world end then why isn’t there any chaos happening right now. The thing is it seems like many people comparing the bible to science. The bible said peopele will die by fire mean war smoke from guns. Not no weather disasters. the mark of the beast is not 666, it’s 616. that’s what the ancient manuscripts read. it got changed around the time of Jesus. why I don’t know, but it has been that way ever since. I figure it’s another one of the evil ones lies. and as for all those of you who say the end times are not at the door,are you calling God’s prophets Daniel and John and all the others who point to this time liars and thus God himself a liar. The world has become an evil wicked sinful disgusting place in the eye’s of the Lord. I was unsure regarding your reference to 666 or 616? How does this help or edify. Can you point to a different mark of the beast eg. islam because of the original transliteration.

I get the 616 mark of the beast number from the children’s living bible by Tyndale. in the book of revelations there is a foot note at the bottom of the page that reads ancient manuscripts list the number as 616. it has nothing to do with Islam. I read this bible because God says we must come to him as children and it’s in clear English that I can understand, especially when I pray for God’s guidance in helping me to.

Some thoughts to consider ( by no means exhaustive)
The Book of Revelation introduces very little that is new and tends to mostly expand on concepts or symbols that have already been used elsewhere in the Bible. You must use the rest of the Bible to decipher much of Revelation. It is noteworthy therefore that 616 appears nowhere else in the Bible while 666 appears four times. It very interestingly appears in this verse related to another exalted and adored king, one whom no doubt the coming Antichrist will want to emulate in many ways.

If anyone gets a good textual criticism report on 616 vs 666 please let me know as I’d like to get to see why someone would conclude 616 is the original.
Irenaeus in the second century, a century before the manuscript Parker relies on, already knew of the 616 variation and discounted it as an error:

Correction, the number 6 represents imperfection, mans number in the bible. The number 3 places emphasis on something by repeating it three times.
The number 7 is perfection. All numbers do have a significance in the bible.

Since you only believe in Jesus, then you must believe what He tells you regarding the end of the age. You should also read the entire bible because the beginning fortells the end and the end the beginning. Christ’s apostles wanted to know what would be the sing of His coming.
