I have recently learned that Hillsong has opened a NEW church campus in Brisbane, an Australian City, in a suburban precinct known for its all night clubbing, drunkenness and vice. The club is called ‘The Met’.

The Logo of The Met is a dragon design based on the middle ages.
Here’s one young person’s review of the club on a friday or saturday night:
“Lucky most drunk or dancing people are friendly enough. I searched high and low for my friend, soaking up the atmosphere of the Met as I did. There are dancing girls in cages here, seriously. I nearly didn’t notice them had I not looked up. Stumbling around this maze I found multiple bars, more dance floors than I could count each with their own DJ, and plenty of booths and spots to chill out on. After searching for what seemed like all night, I received yet another text, this time saying she had gone home. Attempting to do the same I managed to find my way out of the maze of smoky dance floors and grinding bodies despite not knowing which way I was going. ”
The idea according to Brian Houston is, by taking over a rented facility in one of these night clubs is any revellers who wake up from their drunken stupor the next morning, will find themselves in church!
Clever stuff Brian…But does a church use a night club as a common facility for worship? And have we sunken so low that this is the only way to get sinners inside ‘our’ walls??

There is no better way to start the weekend than in the House of God. Sunday at Brisbane City is packed with people leaning in eager for more of God.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5 tells us that we are to reprove NOT approve the works of darkness.
We have come to this weird idea that church has to be fashioned after the entertainment offered by the world, and that we are competing with the world on the basis of Market Share? We think that if that our church services are not sufficiently a ‘Holy Ghost’ party we are not offering anything that will appeal to anyone….
Have the people at Hillsong ever stopped to ask what is Church and for whom is the service for?
It matters little that we have won 5 Arias or gained top billing, but rather that we have gladdened the heart of God with our consecration and our worship!
But it isn’t…. Its a typical night at ‘The Met’ night club.
It seems clear to me that church goers these days are happy to have a sanctified party!
This is the new kind of thinking. This is the new breed of religious convert. Give us just enough religion to ease our conscience; but not too much to kill our fun.
Have they forgotten that Christ and Belial have no agreement? – cf. 2 Cor 6:14 – 15. We are called to separation, from the world’s ways, the world’s pleasures, and the world’s lifestyle. But is there is no difference anymore!
A. W. Tozer, (1897 – 1963) who was an American Christian pastor, preacher, author, magazine editor, and spiritual mentor wrote in his book “Tozer on Christian Leadership”;
“The church’s mightiest influence is felt when she is different from the world in which she lives. Her power lies in her being different, rises with the degree in which she differs and sinks as the difference diminishes.
This is so fully and clearly taught in the Scriptures and so well illustrated in Church history that it is hard to see how we can miss it. But miss it we do, for we hear constantly that the Church must try to be as much like the world as possible, excepting, of course, where the world is too, too sinful….”
It’s clear we are comfortable with compromise, and conformity to the world, indeed we are happy dancing in the Dark!!

I came out of the world in every way possible, drugs, satanism, sex, pubs, abuse, dressing immodestly, swearing, rock, n roll music, etc etc. And God has to clean me up big time , as I was filthy from the life of sins I had done myself, and sins done against me. God has done what his bible said he would do, because I am no longer the person I was, and those worldly desires are not part of my life, and nor do I want them to be. I truly had a Godly conversion. But churches like these, what are they really producing in terms of their flock. What part of not be off the world, do these people not get. The amount of churches using the world to reach the world astounds me. Because when I came into the church, i was told if I did not change my sluttish ways Id be out the church. I was not dressing immodestly ,because God has already changed my way of dressing before I went to this particular church. I was not having sex with anyone, because I was really wanting to do the right thing by God in that area, seeming sex had been one of the sins to keep me away from God for a very long time. No I was told that, because I gave my fellow brothers in God, a friendly hug, to either say hello or when they were feeling down. I was judged because of my previous lifestyle in ways that made me feel like a total outcast within the church. Yet now the very sins God got me out of, and has cleaned up in me, and I was judged for, are the very sins these type of churches are now allowing. Yet when u speak against them, they say the bible says not to judge them or not to speak against the anointed . Yet they can stand in judgement of people like me, and feel they have a God given right to do so.There is one thing I do know. God has not given them permission to change his gospel or the way its presented , nor did God tell them to make him famous. Nor did God tell them to use the world to reach the world.Nor did he tell them all the other things these churches do , in order to be relevant as they call it.a god has lead them alright, but not the God of the bible. Because God would not of changed a person like me , and got me to give up the sins I have for him and cleansed me of such sins, if he was going to allow these churches to behave in the same way. Or else that makes God a very biased God, and that he expects change in some ,but not in others. Hillsong is a farce of a church. It may be successful, and have lots of attendees. it may make heaps of money , and have famous people preaching and attending it. But no where in the bible does God say that is what makes a church his. Think they should read Revelation more in these churches.
Hello there ‘One of God’s True Warriors’ – thanks for sharing your testimony – it is encouraging to hear that you came out of that background and forsook your old lifestyle and embraced the kingdom of God… Don’t worry about the religious hypocrites who have judged you – you stand or fall before Jesus Christ alone…
I found this blog when doing a Google search earlier today for “Hillsong – new church opens in Brisbane”.
I was told about this new Hillsong ‘church’ last week but failed to track it down at the time. They are being advertised from Hillsong’s main website in both Sydney and the main Mt Gravaat Brisbane campus.
I live in Brisbane only a short bus ride from the Fortitude Valley night club spot and the whole neighbourhood has been run down for many years. It used to be one of Brisbane’s main shopping centres back in the 1960’s and 70’s, but all of that changed during the early 1980’s when the big retailers decentralised and moved out to the burgeoning suburbs.
The Valley has been the capital of ‘sleeze’ after hours and weekends for the last 30 years, but it is currently being redeveloped for high rise city living apartment blocks and specialty shops, cafe’s and service type businesses. This development is being fast tracked by Brisbane City Council with recent upgrades of two nearby pedestrian malls and other transport infrastructure being planned and implemented, costing tens of millions of dollars.
Hillsong choosing this particular spot is no accident or coincidence – it has everything an inner city ‘church’ would want, including car parking and public transport within a block of its new Wickham Street address, not to mention an available “rock and roll” crowd that is not afraid of smoke machines, video screens, and spinning light displays.
I hate to be cynical, but I must say it – but with places like Hillsong, it appears to be “all about the money” and I’m sure of that, as Anne Street, Fortitude Valley, (just one block away,) is just about to become “Millionaire’s Row”…

The above link shows only some of the recent and future planned development in this part of town
Thank you for the above. I am from South Africa. And sadly to say, agree wholeheartedly that HILLSONG CHURCH IS all about the money as a half an hour is spent on discussing finance. Very little is focused on our FATHER. Asking all attendees to give as much offering possible?? It is very dark inside. Not a HOLY atmosphere at all 😦
Hi Shebarah,
Thanks for your note. Are you at Hillsong over there?
Sad to hear if they are spending 30 mins on ‘generous giving’
let me know
thanks
Hi Lance
I stopped attending. I am an ex Moslem and have accepted Jesus in my heart. I like visiting different churches as I believe HIS lambs are all over, no matter the church. However visiting Hill song, my teenage kids loved it to bits. But I could not find the sacredness, peace , and the love for HIM there, and eventually I decided not to attend anymore.
Hi Shaberah,
Nice to hear your story. It’s hard when christian’s live in this murky twilight zone accepting everything and anything.
Praise the Lord, that he has kept you and guided you.
God bless
Hi Lance
Thanks for your response. You being a writer, I believe that perhaps you should on a wider scale not only here, make people aware. We are just a few people that’s aware and who don’t just accept whatever we are being fed? So how do you or rather us make others aware?
Thanks Shaberah, Working on that…but things can posted on facebook, and so on. Pray the Lord will speak to those who ‘hear’ is voice, that they wake up.
God bless
I have not been to Hill song. But God’s Holy Spirit has turned my head and heart and soul from even partaking of what passes as music. It turns my stomach over and I get a sick feeling.
The main reason Hillsong seems to have become a synagogue of satan, is because no longer is the head of every woman a man. No. Woman have usurped men’s authority, have broken the everlasting covenant( Isaiah 25) and have made themselves to be a”pastors” . Just as if a woman is the head of her home or Jesus above God the Father in heaven, if women become elders and pastors and have authority over men, then the devil has achieved his purpose. Next is the infiltration of demons. They cause a desire for pride. This is seen when they say don’t judge” The bible says, ” Speak the truth I love” . “Don’t judge us” is a super spiritual defence. We are not, you are. We are pointing to the world and pride and lust in the church. Those demons will bring in worship of women( with leg and thigh revealing garments on) . Worship of women is from the Greek demonic religion where we get the goddess Diana. In will come rock music, a lust and love for money, rebellion, sons turning away from God to sensuality an self, a love of self, love of money, and a love of pleasure.
Their converts will be stony ground hearers and soon turn away. They are seeking fame in things numerical. God disciplined David for taking a census to see how high the numbers were and not seek after holiness and devotion to God .
A synagogue of satan will eventually fall, with its lights out and sensuality and no presence of God’s spirit- only a counterfeit- stimulated souls, and hype to the clouds.
Hi Ali,
Yes.. You make some good points as the downward spiral. A church run with worldly wisdom and principles, will suely walk in defiance to God himself.
Even though their recent conference theme was all about listening they are deliberation turning a deaf ear to God’s instruction..
Hi Lance
