FedEx Freight to begin driver furloughs Sunday

Despite the Christmas Season being the absolute busiest time of year for freight shipping, FedEx Freight, the nation’s largest less-than-truckload carrier, will begin furloughing an undetermined number of drivers on Sunday, the FedEx Corp. unit confirmed Wednesday.

The voluntary furloughs will run until March 6, with drivers getting a guarantee to return to work, the unit confirmed.

FedEx Freight is offering drivers a $300 weekly incentive to accept a furlough. The total payments will be made when the drivers return to work, according to the FedEx (NYSE: FDX) unit.

The number of furloughs to be allowed per service center will be disclosed internally through the week. FedEx Freight said it will not publicly release any details about the furlough totals or the centers where they will be requested. The unit has said previously that not all service centers would be asked to furlough drivers.

FedEx Freight said earlier this month that it would move to voluntary furloughs in seeking to align its driver workforce with less demand for LTL services due to a slowing economy.

It said at the time that the furloughs would last for 90 days and drivers agreeing to them would be called back to work. The furloughs will affect a relatively small number of drivers

Impacted workers will continue to receive health benefits and be allowed to file for unemployment benefits in their respective states of residence, the unit said. Some eligible employees will be offered permanent transfer opportunities to other markets that have hiring needs.

Other LTL carriers are considering similar measures as they right-size their workforces to offset volume declines.

+1# WW3 preparations: Russian Tu-95MS bombers landed in China and Chinese H-6s in Russia! — White Lightning aka Raptor 2022-12-01 16:38

For the first time in military history, Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers have landed at China’s Hangzhou Air Base in the Zhejiang suburb. At the same time, Chinese Xian H-6 bombers were landing at a Russian airbase in Vladivostok.

This is a highly symbolic move: The Russian strategic bombers that landed at the PLA airfield also carry nuclear bombs. Russia has sent a message to the US and NATO that its nuclear umbrella will also cover China if necessary.

Before that, the Russian Aerospace Forces and the PLA Air Force conducted a joint patrol in the Asia-Pacific region, passing along the route over the Seas of Japan and East China.

It is obvious that the Russians and Chinese carried out a virtual bombing operation of Korea and Japan showing that they will not allow unilateral actions against North Korea.

Dangerous development – S. Lavrov accuses the USA and NATO of participating directly in the war in Ukraine. “The US is creating an explosive situation with China as well”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today for the first time that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the war in Ukraine because of their support for Kyiv and defended Moscow’s damage to Ukrainian infrastructure.

Lavrov said at a press conference that Washington and the Atlantic Alliance were directly involved in the war because they provided weapons to Ukraine and military training on their soil.

The Ukrainian military leadership is in a state of panic as Western intelligence agencies have informed Kyiv that Russia has amassed 18 strategic bombers with a huge volume of fire.

In the next few hours, the Russians are about to launch their largest ever mass missile attack against Ukraine, destroying what is left of Ukrainian infrastructure. https://warnews247.gr/

There is speculation that attacks on west Ukraine will allow NATO to move in “peacekeepers”.
As sitting tennants, they will then be involved in the disposition of the regions they occupy.
Poland would prefer to be the invader – and keep these regions. And Russia would negotiate for land access to Transnistria, Khalinigrad.

+1# But I thought the economy was doing great — TigerTiger 2022-12-01 14:46

Biden told me the economy was the best ever, and everything is fine. Gas prices are coming down, he said, at least he said that back when we still had gas, and inflation is coming down, now I can dream about eating that can of beans that I have on layaway at my local store. I haven’t heard the howling of the wolves for some days now, and my neighbor stopped making noises last night so I’ll give it a day and then see if there’s any good meat there to scavenge. He was a bit of a lardbucket before things got bad, recently he was thinner but at least he was vaccinated, so there’s that.

Wood for the fire to keep warm is running low around here, all the trees are gone but at least the country is headed in the right direction with the switch to Green Energy.

I’ll be so happy if one day I’m able to afford an electric car. I see our politicians driving by on the toll road, from a distance – we aren’t allowed anywhere near, of course, I totally understand that they feel threatened by those America First terrorists who have been creating chaos. But I hear on the Central News Network (nice to have everything centralized now, much simpler) that the terrorists are on the run. There was a tactical nuclear explosion in the mountains of North Carolina where a bunch of them were apparently holed up. Nobody has heard from Trump for a while now, phew! He was such a fascist, I’m glad they managed to drive him into exile. Hope he was there in NC for the nuke. Asshole, I hate his guts, so violent.

I found the remains of a squirrel today, so PARTAAAY tonight, we eat! Yay. Life goes on, I hope things get better soon, I’m told that the War is going well and Russia is going to capitulate any day now. Sometimes we see pictures of happy Russian people with gasoline powered cars and shops full of food, but we are told by The Biden Memorial Administration that these are obviously photoshopped and fake, so I don’t pay any attention.

Well, goodbye to 2023, hopefully 2024 will be better! At least, I think that’s what year it is, what with no electricity for the last… some time now, hard to tell time, but at least the central news broadcast screens still work, so we can go and see what’s going on in the world any time. Very generous of our Administration to let us have that, every day I count my blessings, and my remaining teeth.

# Does UV Light Actually Disinfect and Kill Viruses? — MildB 2022-12-01 14:51

Black Lights were cool in the 70?

UV light has been used for decades (yes, decades!) to reduce the spread of bacteria, such as that which causes tuberculosis, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). As for its ability to kill COVID-19 germs? Well, that’s not so well-established. Keep reading to find out the expert-backed truth about UV light, including whether or not it can actually prevent coronavirus transmission and what to know about the UV light products (i.e. lamps, wands, etc.) you’ve seen all over social media.

But first, what is UV light?

UV light is a type of electromagnetic radiation that’s transmitted in waves or particles at varying wavelengths and frequencies, which make up the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, says Jim Malley, Ph.D., a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of New Hampshire. The most common type of UV radiation? The sun, which produces three different types of rays: UVA, UVB, and UVC, according to the FDA.

Not sinning IS doing God’s will. Maybe I’m misunderstanding but it sounds like you’re minimizing sin.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15)
Keeping His commands (“actively doing His will) is the definition of not sinning.
